Facilities and Maintenance

The University of Mount Saint Vincent campus is situated on 70 acres of land. There are fourteen University buildings varying from academic buildings to residence halls. In addition to maintaining the campus grounds, Facilities is also responsible for the daily maintenance and housekeeping within each building.

Hours of Operation

Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM

Maintenance

The maintenance staff is responsible for the day-to-day functioning and routine maintenance of buildings, building systems, and utilities. The maintenance staff manages painting, plumbing, carpentry work (including door issues and furniture repairs), lighting, minor electric work, and HVAC systems. The maintenance staff also assists with snow removal during the winter season.

Custodial

The custodial staff is responsible for the routine cleaning of all buildings. This includes office cleaning, restocking and cleaning of bathrooms, garbage removal, and floor maintenance. In addition to routine work, the custodial managers will schedule project work while there is down time within buildings. Custodial staff, with assistance from the grounds staff, manages events setups and coverage.

Grounds

The grounds staff is responsible for the daily maintenance of the campus grounds, including mowing the grass, fertilization, picking up leaves, landscaping, pruning, snow removal, and maintaining the athletic field.

Work Orders

Community members can submit work order requests to facilities@mountsaintvincent.edu. For more information please view the Work Order System Procedure and Guidelines.

Key Requests

All keys are managed by the Department of Facilities. Faculty, staff, and administration can access the Key Management Policy and Key Request Form on the Intranet. Keys for residence hall rooms are issued to residents by the Office for Housing and Residence Life as needed.
