Please note: books on reserve may be borrowed for two hours by any student or faculty member with a valid CMSV ID. Also, books on reserve do not leave the library.

What is the DVD borrowing policy?
Patrons may borrow up to 3 DVDs at a time. DVDs circulate for 7 days. Overdue DVDs are fined $1 per day.

When are my books due back?
Items on Reserve
All patrons: two-hour loan, with possible renewal pending waiting list. Patrons may borrow 2 items on reserve at a time (books, DVDs, CDs, craft kits, etc.). Items on reserve can be used only within the Library.

Circulating Books

  • Students and Staff: four-week loan, with one four-week renewal. If the last day of the semester falls within four weeks, the book will instead be due on that date. Due dates are stamped on the back of each book.
  • Faculty: fifteen-week loan.

All books are due back at the end of semester.

Can I take out reference books, magazines/journals or newspapers?
No. These items are only for use within the Library.

Can I renew my book?
Any patron may renew any circulating book before its due date, provided that a hold has not been put on that book by another patron. The renewal loan period is the same as the initial loan period. Books may be renewed at the Library circulation desk.

How many books can I check out?
Patrons may borrow a maximum of 20 books at a time. Patrons may borrow up to 2 items on reserve at a time.

The book I need is checked out. Can I place a hold on it?
Any patron can put a hold on a circulating book that is currently checked out. Holds may be placed in person at the Library Circulation Desk. A book with a hold placed on it cannot be renewed. Holds cannot be placed on books on Reserve. When the book you place on hold is available, you will be notified. The book will be held at the Circulation Desk for five days.

Do I have to pay fines on an overdue item?
Yes. Overdue items accrue fines. Overdue notices are sent via email to patrons’ official CMSV email accounts. Outstanding fines will prevent students from registering, graduating or receiving transcripts.

What if I lose an item?
