3/16/2015

Riverdale, N.Y. – The American Association of University Women (AAUW) Westchester Branch will co-host the 12th annual “Explore Your Opportunities” Conference for seventh grade girls from the New York metropolitan area. The conference will take place at the University of Mount Saint Vincent’s Riverdale campus on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

The conference aims to provide girls on the brink of adolescence with opportunities to meet and interact with positive female role models who are succeeding math and science fields, and to foster a greater awareness of career opportunities and empowerment. The conference will offer multiple photo opportunities as the girls participate in 17 different interactive learning workshops that cover a variety of hands-on topics in math, science, and technology.

The conference will host all female students enrolled in the seventh grade from schools in New York City and Westchester County. During the conference, parents and educators can partake in entertaining and informative workshops, which will be followed by a presentation about careers and higher education opportunities.

The event is organized by the AAUW Westchester Branch, Empire State Virtual Branch, and the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
