College of Mount Saint Vincent Senior Wins One of Ten Independent Sector Student Community Service Awards

Riverdale, N.Y. – Ten college students, along with private not-for-profit college and university presidents and New York State Senators and Assembly members, will gather in Albany for the 2015 Independent Sector Student Community Service Awards Reception on March 2, 2015. Among the scholarship winners being recognized in Albany is Ciara Rosa, a senior at the University of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y.

WHO: Ten outstanding New York Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) recipients from independent private, not-for-profit colleges and universities and their campus administrators. These students from across New York State will be recognized for their leadership in community service. Each student awardee will receive a $500 scholarship from the H.D. Paley Memorial Scholarship Fund, named in honor of cIcu’s third president.

WHERE: “Well” in the Legislative Office Building (LOB), Albany, N.Y.

WHY: The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps more than 372,000 students pay their tuition at a New York State college or university. These students make a significant impact within their communities every year, showing how volunteerism and community engagement are emblematic of an independent education. Further, these students and their service to their communities illustrates the value of independent colleges and universities as community partners.
