College of Mount Saint Vincent Professor Tapped to Judge Peabody Awards Submissions

1/30/2015

Cynthia Meyers Joins Faculty Screening Committee

Riverdale, N.Y. – An associate professor of communication who specializes in multiple forms of broadcast media has been chosen to serve as a judge for the 57th Annual Peabody Awards, which recognizes excellence in broadcasting.

As a member of the faculty screening committee, Dr. Cynthia Meyers will collaborate with a highly select group of peers in education and media to evaluate, rate, and rank entries, resulting in recommendations to the Peabody Board. Board members review faculty screening committee entries as well as their own selections at preliminary meetings, and the final Board session takes place at the University of Georgia in March for final review and deliberation.

Dr. Meyers is currently reviewing 37 submissions in radio, podcast, documentary, and news categories along with Alexander Russo, Associate Professor of Media Studies at Catholic University of America, and Jason Loviglio, Chair and Associate Professor of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Drs. Meyers and colleagues will conclude their committee review in February. The Peabody Awards will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
