Mount Saint Vincent Students and Faculty Present Scholarly Work at Eastern Psychological Association Annual Meeting

4/14/2015

Riverdale, N.Y. – Four students and two faculty members from the University of Mount Saint Vincent presented their research at the 86th annual meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA), held in Philadelphia in March.

Alaysia Carrington ’16 and Dr. Katherine Alexander, Assistant Professor of Psychology, presented “Attachment anxiety leads to fear of becoming fat due to increased binge eating.” Emily Forsyth, Kelly Bloom, and Jaymee Wilson—who will all graduate in May—joined faculty member Dr. Stephanie Berger, Associate Professor of Psychology, in presenting “Achievement Goals as a Predictor of Academic Satisfaction.”

“Working with these very dedicated students to present at a national conference is immensely rewarding,” says Dr. Daniel Hrubes, Department Chair and Associate Professor of Psychology. “I’m impressed by the quality of the scholarly work that our students and faculty are doing. And I’m even more impressed that psychology majors from the University of Mount Saint Vincent have co-presented research findings with faculty at regional and national conferences almost every year since 2004. The department—and the Mount—are truly building something exceptional.”

The EPA is the oldest of the regional psychological associations in the United States. At the association’s annual meeting, faculty and students have an opportunity to network and make connections, as well as learn from established members who are presenting the latest advances in professional and scientific study in the field of psychology.
