Fishlinger Center for Public Policy Research Advisory Board

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent’s successful February launch of its Fishlinger Center for Public Policy Research has already resulted in the creation of two new majors in public policy and market data analysis. The Advisory Board, which has been meeting since February, is made up of leaders of non-profit and for-profit organizations spanning higher education, marketing communication, media, and law. The Advisory Board will determine and prioritize potential topics for center sponsored studies, review and comment on survey instruments, plan and organize public forums around study topics, and identify and recruit forum participants.

The following are the members of the Fishlinger Center’s Advisory Board:

  • Heather Alumbaugh, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where she directs the Honors Program and co-directs the Women’s Studies Program.
  • Alexandra Fishlinger Calame is the president and co-founder of Rack It Up, and is a social media and marketing specialist for a leading national trade association.
  • Karen L. Chaplin, M.Ed., was formerly with the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety as Supervisor of Education for Essex and Passaic counties. She currently serves on a variety of not-for-profit boards.
  • James F. Donius Ph.D., is the Director of the Fishlinger Center for Public Policy Research at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where he also holds a faculty appointment as Professor of Communication.
  • Edmund C. Duffy is an attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates, with broad experience in all aspects of corporate law. He is also a trustee of the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
  • Sarah L. Dutton is the Director of Surveys at CBS News, where she manages the CBS News Survey Unit, and is responsible for all CBS News and CBS News/New York Times polls.
  • William J. Fishlinger, Esq., founder and former CEO and Chairman of The Wright Insurance Group and its subsidiary companies, is a leading entrepreneur in the insurance industry. He is a trustee of the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
  • Vincent Fitzgerald, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where he also served eight years as chair of the Department of Communication.
  • Charles L. Flynn, Jr., Ph.D., is president of the University of Mount Saint Vincent.  He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities of the State of New York (CICU) and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).
  • Anthony “Tony” Foleno, M.A., is Senior Vice President for Research at the Ad Council, where he advises the strategic planning of more than 40 public service communications campaigns.
  • Howard Gershowitz is a co-founder of Mktg, Inc., a market research firm that has conducted more than 20,000 data collection projects and operated one of the largest telephone interviewing facilities in the industry.
  • Guy E. Lometti, Ph.D., is the Provost and Dean of Faculty of the University of Mount Saint Vincent. Prior employers include the ABC Television Network, where he directed the Social Research Unit.
  • Donna A. Lopiano, Ph.D., is president of Sports Management Resources, a consulting firm that assists colleges and universities in athletics program strategic planning, gender equity, growth, and development challenges. She is a former director of women’s athletics at the University of Texas at Austin and a former CEO of the Women’s Sports Foundation.
  • Christine MacLaughlin is a 19-year veteran of IBM, where she currently serves as Vice President for Marketing and Communications. Her 35-year career in advertising and marketing includes key positions with top agencies in New York.
  • David Schliecker is a 20-year media research veteran whose work spans the TV/digital/cross-platform media landscape and informs programming, marketing, press, creative development, business development, and finance decision-making. He is currently Vice President of Food Network/Cooking Channel Research within Scripps Networks Interactive.
  • Susan Whitney is an accomplished executive with more than 40 years’ experience in the information technology industry, including serving as general manager at IBM.
