College of Mount Saint Vincent Marks 104th Anniversary with a Day of Celebration

Riverdale, N.Y. – The University of Mount Saint Vincent will honor its origins by designating Wednesday, April 15, 2015 as a day of celebration known as Founders Day. The event marks the 104th anniversary of the charter that established the academically excellent, authentically inclusive, independent liberal arts college. The Founders Day celebration will include a full roster of activities.

Originally founded as the Academy of Mount Saint Vincent in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity of New York, the Trustees of the University of the State of New York amended the charter in 1911, creating the University of Mount Saint Vincent. Dedicated to the Catholic tradition and the principles of ecumenism, the College combines a strong core curriculum with a full array of majors in the liberal arts selected professional fields of study.

In the spirit of Vincent de Paul and Elizabeth Ann Seton, the College upholds its commitment to “foster an understanding of our common humanity, a commitment to human dignity, and a full appreciation of our obligations to each other.”

2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Sandwich Making for the Midnight Run, Campus Ministry, Founders Hall
4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Forum on Migration and Human Trafficking,
President’s Reception Room, Founders Hall
5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Festive Dinner, Hudson Heights
6:30 p.m. Brown Bag Bingo with the Sisters of Charity, Hudson Heights
8:30 p.m. Midnight Run, Campus Ministry and Manhattan
