Clarke's three-pointer with 0:05 remaining in extra session sends Dolphins to Mount Saint Mary for Thursday's Skyline Semis
Kaitlin Burud2/20/2007 - As USMMA-Kings Point departs the Skyline Conference for the Landmark Conference at the end of the 2006-07 academic year, they will do so knowing that they will never, ever win a Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Championship. Mount Saint Vincent made sure of that on Tuesday night, in dramatic fashion, as a rally during the final minutes of the first overtime session gave the Dolphins a thrilling 63-58 win over the Mariners in front of one of the largest crowds to ever witness a Women's Basketball game at Mount Saint Vincent. The win improves the Mount to 17-9 overall and sends the fourth-seeded Dolphins to face top-seeded Mount Saint Mary for Thursday's Semifinal at Mount Saint Mary. More...
Williams, Pufahl combine for 24 of Mount Saint Vincent's 34 kills; Canzano: 18 digs; Dolphins host SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday
Dan Williams2/19/2007 - Senior Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose) notched his seventh double-double of the 2007 campaign with14 kills and 16 digs, and sophomore T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) recorded 10 kills, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team was swept by CUNY powerhouse Baruch, 3-0 on Monday night during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Dolphins are now 6-10 for the 2007 season and saw a two-match winning streak snapped. More...
Dolphins sweep HVWAC campaign, win regular season & tournament championships
Ed Ryder2/19/2007 - Mount Saint Vincent Head Women's Basketball Coach Ed Ryder was voted the 2006-07 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Coach of the Year for an incredible 06-07 campaign during which Mount Saint Vincent experienced one of the most dramatic turn-arounds in the history of the program. After an 8-17 finish a year ago and graduating four starters and more than 80% of the team's offense from that squad, Ryder and company are currently 16-9 and won both the HVWAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Percodani earns Tournament MVP honors; Heesemann's late baskets break 52-52 tie as Dolphins earn second HVWAC crown during three-year span
Lauren Percodani2/18/2007 - They've been a Cinderella Story all season long ... a feel good season during which a young team with modest expectations has overcome every challenge sent their way. Picked to finish near the bottom of the Skyline Conference standings, they ended the 2006-07 season with a 9-7 conference record and earned the #4 seed in the Skyline playoffs and a post-season home game. In Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) play, they were expected to finish behind a St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) team that returned a lot of experience and talent from a squad that won the conference a year ago. During a string of wins and outstanding play, the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team has not only met their expectations for the season, they surpassed every single one of them, and seemed to be living a charmed life as a team without a senior on the roster that developed into a powerhouse almost overnight. But on Sunday evening, during the HVWAC Championship Game at the Pratt Institute, it all almost came crashing down. After blowing a 14-point second half lead to #3 Saint Elizabeth and seeing the score tied with mere minutes to play, Mount Saint Vincent proved to have the meddle of a champion once again, and what could have easily become their lowest point of the season became their finest moment. And with a 59-54 win, Mount Saint Vincent captured their second HVWAC Tournament Championship during a three-year span, and swept the HVWAC season for the first time since long before a single member of the team even thought of coming to play at Mount Saint Vincent. Seniors lead MSV JV team to conference semifinals; 7-13 final record
2/18/2007 - Mount Saint Vincent JV Basketball seniors Kareem Wright (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes) and Matt Salamone (Fishkill, NY/John Jay HS) have been named to the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) All-Conference team as a result of outstanding performances during the 2006-07 season. The announcement was made Sunday at the conclusion of the HVMAC Championship Game between St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) and Berkeley College, won by Berkeley College. Wright and Salamone were instrumental in the Mount's trip to the HVMAC Semifinals during their first season competing in the conference and a 7-13 record overall. More...
Koerner scores 19 points, Percodani adds 13 points and six assists; Dolphins seek second HVWAC Tourney title during last three seasons
Karissa Koerner2/17/2007 - The only disappointment on Saturday evening for the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team is that their attempt to reach the top of the mountain with their second Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championship during the last three seasons will not include a match-up with HVWAC arch-rival St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), whom the Dolphins have met in the HVWAC finals during each of the last three seasons. Otherwise, Saturday night was as close to the perfect game as the Mount could have played. They shot well, rebounded, hustled, and played like a team during a dominant 73-40 win over #5 College of New Rochelle at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York that proved that the top-seeded Dolphins are still at the top of their game as they attempt to sweep the HVWAC regular and post-season championships for the first time in more than five years. Page scores 23 points, Greaves has monster game; Dolphins finish season 7-13
2/17/2007 - Freshman Travis Page (Norwalk, CT/Fairfield Prep) scored a career-high 23 points and added a team-high three assists, and fellow freshman Deveron Greaves (Brooklyn, NY/Grand Street Campus HS) scored eight points, grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, and added a career-high seven blocked shots, but the third-seeded Mount Saint Vincent JV Basketball team saw their 2006-07 campaign come to an end on Saturday with a 90-57 loss to second-seeded Berkeley College during the semifinal round of the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Basketball Tournament during a game played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Mount finishes the season with a 7-13 overall record. the 2006-07 season was the Mount's first competing in the HVMAC. More...
Pufahl registers 15 kills, Williams has another fine evening; Dolphins host Baruch on Monday
T.J. Pufahl2/16/2007 - A year ago, the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team won seven matches during what was nothing short of a rebuilding year for the Dolphins. To illustrate the incredible work that Head Coach Tom Callahan and company have done for the 2007 edition of the team, after Friday night's 3-0 win over Cooper Union, Mount Saint Vincent has won six matches during just over a month of play, and with four crucial matches during the next 10 days, Mount Saint Vincent is quickly becoming a contender to not only surpass their 2006 win total, but they are also quickly making sure that the rebuilding process was only a one year phenomenon. MSV races out to nine-point halftime lead and never looks back; HVWAC playoffs this weekend, Skyline post-season begins next week
Kaitlin Burud2/15/2007 - Freshman Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood HS) scored a game-high 20 points and junior Kaitlin Burud (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook HS) enjoyed an incredible night with 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and seven steals to lead the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team to a 59-50 win on Thursday night during a game played at Old Westbury. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 14-9 overall, 9-7 in Skyline Conference play, and has clinched the #4 seed for next week's Skyline Conference playoffs. The Mount will host a Tuesday night game against either USMMA-Kings Point or Centenary, depending on the results of this weekend's action. More...
