Years at Mount Saint Vincent: First Season

Jabari Toure comes to Riverdale for his first season as Mount Saint Vincent's Men's and Women's Head Cross Country Coach. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the program and most recently served as the Head Track Coach at Globe.

While at Globe, Toure was responsible for the daily training of athletes as well as for travel, scheduling and the program’s budget. He was also responsible for recruiting, where he made school visits and awarded athletic scholarships to worthy student-athletes in the New York City area. Toure also tracked the academic progress of his student-athletes and served as a liaison with four year institutions.

Toure has also had extensive coaching experience at the club level, which he says grew his interest in college coaching. He currently runs a group call ‘Jabari’s Road Runners’ and has trained two athletes, one from Haiti and one from Trinidad, who will compete in the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, China.

Outside of Running, Toure worked for the New York City Board of Education from 2000-07. In that capacity he served as an Intervention/Prevention Specialist in the SPARK Program. In addition he served as the Director of the African Dance and Drumming group and the Head Track and Field coach of a nationally ranked program.

Toure received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology from Temple in 1992 and also a minor in Education and African American Studies. He is currently working on his Master’s in Dance Therapy at Pratt Institute and completed his Personal Trainer Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in September 2007.

Toure currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
