Women’s Volleyball breaks three-match losing streak with 3-1 win over Marymount
Predergast has career night as Mount Saint Vincent improves to 7-0 in HVWAC
10/26/2005 - (Tarrytown, NY) – Junior Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS) enjoyed the finest match of her career with 15 kills against only five errors, an incredible eight service aces, and five digs, and senior Jacqui Dauphinais (North Yarmouth, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth Regional HS) added nine kills and 16 digs as the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Volleyball team downed Marymount, 3-1, in a Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) match played at Marymount. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent ends a three-match losing streak and improves to 11-18 overall, and remains in first place in the Conference with a 7-0 record.

Predergast was hot from the start, recording six kills in the opening game as the Dolphins held off a pesky Marymount squad, 30-23. After winning the second game, 30-23, the Mount lost the third game, 27-30, before closing out the match, 30-25, in the fourth game. Predergast and Dauphinais were an unstoppable duo throughout the night, recording 24 of the 46 Mount Saint Vincent kills, and 14 of the 24 Mount Saint Vincent service aces.

The night was also a big one for setters Monique Lopez (Bronx, NY/Aquinas HS) and Nicole Vita (Bordentown, NJ/John P. Stevens HS) as the duo combined for 37 assists. Lopez amasses a career-high 19 assists, while Vita also had a career night with 18 assists. Lopez also had 12 digs for the Mount.

Mount Saint Vincent also received perhaps their best night of the season in the middle as blockers Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers HS) and Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY/St. Catherine’s) registered 15 total kills and a combined six blocks. The two were a consistent force in the middle throughout the night.

With their regular season slate behind them, Mount Saint Vincent now awaits their HVWAC Quarterfinal pairing. The Dolphins will host the playoff match on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hayes Gymnasium against an opponent to be determined over the weekend.
