Gallagher ends career with treasure trove of Men’s Volleyball awards
Senior earns All-American, NECVA Player of the Year, First-Team All-Conference
5/3/2005 - (Riverdale, NY) – Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball senior Phil Gallagher (Peru, ME/Mountain Valley HS) ended his career today as one of the most decorated Varsity Athletes in Mount Saint Vincent history. Two weeks after competing in his final match for the Dolphins, Gallagher was named Second-Team All-American, and earned Player of the Year honors from both the Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) and from the Metropolitan Division of the NECVA, as well as First-Team All-Conference honors. By being named All-American for the second consecutive season, Gallagher became the first Mount Saint Vincent Varsity-Athlete to ever earn All-American honors twice in a career.

As a senior, Gallagher was simply overpowering as an Outside Hitter, leading the nation in Kills (582) and finishing among the nation’s best in Digs (164), Total Blocks (86), and Aces (65). For his career, Gallagher finished with more than 2,000 Kills, 500 Digs, 300 Total Blocks, and 250 Aces to become the most decorated Men’s Volleyball player in Mount Saint Vincent history.

The Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball team finished the 2005 season with a 16-10 overall record and advanced to both the Second Round of the NECVA Tournament, and the Championship Match of the ECAC Tournament. The Dolphins ended the season ranked #12 in the nation.
