“We are very excited to have a coach in place to revitalize our Cross Country program as we believe that Mount Saint Vincent could be the home of a top-notch Cross Country program. Tim Stanfield is a highly respected member of our Administration and is a great advocate for our students. Tim has done amazing work as the Assistant Director of TRIO, and I expect the he will bring his gentle strength and desire to see students succeed to the Cross Country Track program.” Ingram said.
Stanfield, a Bronx native who won a New York City Track Championship at Fordham Prep as a Junior, is a 1998 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College where he was a member of the Diplomats’ Track program. After graduating with a dual degree in Economics and Psychology, Stanfield worked in the Marketing and Investing Divisions of the Texaco Corporation before coming to Mount Saint Vincent three years ago to work with the TRIO program – a program that provides student support services to first generation and lower income students. During the 2004-05 academic year, Stanfield was promoted to the Assistant Director of the program.
Stanfield said he is not only excited by the challenge of building the Cross Country program at the Mount, but he sees great potential due to the campus’s resources and proximity to Van Cortlandt Park – one of the nation’s premiere Cross Country facilities.
“Track is an internal sport that requires love and passion for the sport if you are going to compete. I have always had a passion for this sport, and I look forward to sharing it with the Student-Athletes at Mount Saint Vincent,” Stanfield said. “This is a great opportunity. We have a world class Cross Country facility in our backyard, and I think that our proximity to Van Cortlandt Park, combined with the other resources that make our College attractive to prospective Student-Athletes will allow us to build a very strong Cross Country program at the Mount.”
