St. Joseph’s (LI) downs Mount Saint Vincent in Women’s Volleyball
Three match winning streak snapped; Predergast: 9 kills, 12 digs
10/14/2005 - (Riverdale, NY) – Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches, NY/Westhampton Beach HS) had a team-high nine kills and 12 digs, and Monique Lopez (Bronx, NY/Aquinas HS) added 16 assists and 12 digs, but the effort fell short as the Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Volleyball team fell to St. Joseph’s (LI), 3-1 in a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. St. Joseph’s (12-10, 5-0 Skyline Conference) won the opening game, 30-23 and Mount Saint Vincent (9-14, 1-4 Skyline Conference) tied the score with a 30-27 win in the second game. The Golden Eagles clinched the match with a 30-19 win during the third game and a 30-27 win during the fourth game.

The Dolphins struggled all night with their service game as the Mount committed 19 service errors compared to only 9 by St. Joseph’s.

Also having big nights for the Mount were senior Jacqui Dauphinais (North Yarmouth, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth Regional HS) who had seven kills and nine digs, and junior Jessica Thorn (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck HS) had a great defensive evening with 10 digs.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action for a doubleheader on Saturday against both a Skyline Conference and a Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) opponent. The Dolphins host Old Westbury at 1:00 p.m. and Pratt at 3:00 p.m. with both matches having huge potential post-season implications.
