Student Accounts Representative

Reports to: Director of Student Accounts

Job Responsibilities:

• Track and maintain student accounts throughout the collection process to ensure prompt payment of outstanding balances
• Provide quality customer service and answer student inquiries regarding their financial status
• Analyze students’ accounts in Banner for accuracy, and identify discrepancies
• Advise students regarding their payment options and financial policies
• Liaise with the Offices of Financial Aid, Residence Life, Registrar, and Admission regarding charges, aid, payments, and adjustments
• Process payments for students’ accounts and general ledger activities in Banner
• Apply payments for student dining in Heartland payment system
• Reconcile daily deposits and prepare bank deposit slips
• Process refund requests in Banner
• Manage heavy volume of phone calls and in-person traffic
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum two (2) years customer service experience preferably in higher education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with student aid programs preferred
• Working knowledge of Banner or comparable student information system highly preferred
• Two to three years’ experience in an accounting-related environment preferred; strong math skills required
• Must be detail-oriented and able to handle tight deadlines
• Ability to maintain a high quality of work and level of accuracy
• Organized, results-oriented, and motivated to perform without extensive direction
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
