Sali Berisha, Prime Minister of
Albania, will visit the College of Mount Saint Vincent on
Saturday, September 17. Mr. Berisha will meet with the
Albanian community in Hayes Auditorium at 1:30 p.m.
Prime Minister Berisha has a long career in public
service. On April 9, 1992 he was elected President of the
Republic of Albania, in its first free elections. He
served as President until 1997. Mr. Berisha was recently
elected Prime Minister of Albania on July 3, 2005, when
the Democratic Party of Albania won a majority in the
Parliament.
Prime Minister Berisha is in New York to address the
United Nations General Assembly, as it begins its 60th
Session. The community meeting at the College of Mount
Saint Vincent was facilitated by Congressman Eliot Engel,
who is scheduled to appear at Saturday's
event.
