Kelly Fraser Named All-Met Second Team
4/8/2013 - New York, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent sophomore Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) has picked up her second postseason award on Friday after being named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) All-Met Second Team. The honor comes after being named Second Team All-Skyline Conference at the conclusion of the regular season.
 
Fraser had a standout season for the Dolphins in 2012-13 after leading the team in scoring average, rebounding average, field goals made, blocks and double-doubles. Fraser was also among the team leaders in 2012-13 in field goal percentage after shooting 41.5-percent for the year.
 
The 5-11 center was good for 14.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per night for the Dolphins, scoring in double-figures in all but four games this season. She scored better then 20 points in a game twice, including a career-high 29 points against CCNY on January 14. She closed the year with 119 made field goals to lead the Mount.
 
Fraser was also a force on the backboards for the Dolphins after securing at least 10 rebounds in a game seven times. Her season-high came against league rival St. Joseph's-L.I. when she secured 17 caroms, including seven on the offensive glass. Each of her games in double-figures on the glass produced a team-leading seven double-doubles.
 
The Staten Island, N.Y. native had a big year for the Dolphins on defense after recording 70 blocked shots. She averaged 3.3 blocks per game which ranked her sixth nationally in the category at the end of the season. Fraser had at least one block in each game she appeared in and totaled a career-high eight blocks in a game on two occasions in 2012-13.
 
At the close of the season Fraser finished in the top-6 in four different categories in the Skyline Conference. She led the Skyline Conference in blocks per game with 3.3 and sat fourth in the league standings in field goal percentage. Fraser was also among the league leaders in both scoring and rebounding average in 2012-13.
 
All-Met Writer Association Award winners will be honored at the 80th Annual NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards Dinner. The event, the oldest of its kind in the country, will be held on April 15 at the Westchester Marriot in Tarrytown, N.Y.
