She graduated from the Mount summa cum laude with a B.A. in math, and, in spring 2005, she completed her master’s in applied math and statistics at SUNY Stony Brook. She plans to pursue a doctorate in statistics, and to do research in genetics and bio-statistics.
For two years, between 2003 and 2005, she received a National Science Foundation fellowship. Her research was designed to study the compatibility between an individual’s genetic profile and the drugs he or she is prescribed for a particular illness.
“By deciding if a person should be given a specific drug, you won’t have the problem of so many drugs being recalled,” she said. “Bio-statistics can have a big impact on society in the long-run.”
Christine plans to continue her research as she pursues her doctorate.
