Uncommon Stories
Written in Stone—and in Cyberspace
Billy Hallowell '06 may be young, but his name is already written in stone.  The sophomore was recently added to the the Wall of Tolerance, a Montgomery, Ala., monument that honors individuals who have worked to end discrimination. This honor recognizes the many roles Billy has taken on since he was just 15 years old.

He’s a creator. At 15, Hallowell created a flashy website called www.teenwebonline.com, written by teens for teens. Originally intended as a response to the Columbine shootings, the site continues to help teenagers get involved in current events and make a difference.

He's a writer. Working with two other students from the College, Billy, a communications major, recently completed his first book, Christ Teen, and he has his own “Hallowed Ground” column on www.shine.com.

And he's a speaker. In April of 2004, Billy was a spokesperson for the inaugural Love-A-Teen Day that took place in schools across the country, and in March he spoke in Washington, D.C.
