This innovative program is designed for those holding bachelor’s degrees in a discipline other than nursing from an accredited college or university. This program, which is now accepting applications for fall 2012 enrollment, allows students to earn a nursing degree in less than a year and a half at CMSV’s Riverdale or Midtown Manhattan location.
Nursing is a growing and dynamic field. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the nursing shortage in the U.S. is projected to grow, as more baby boomers retire and the need for health care increases. The AACN reports that employers and recruiting agencies posted more than 120,000 job ads for registered nurses in May 2011, a nearly 50 percent increase from May 2010 (Source: Wanted Analytics).
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual salary for registered nurses is nearly $65,000, compared to the average median salary of $44,000 for all occupations.
“Obtaining a bachelor’s degree through the Mount’s accelerated nursing program is a great investment in one’s future,” says Dean of the School of Professional & Continuing Studies Edward Meyer. “The degree not only allows individuals to become more marketable in today’s economy, but it also positions them for rewarding careers in the growing field of health care.”
