Accelerated Nursing Program
The College of Mount Saint Vincent welcomes prospective students holding Bachelor's Degrees from an accredited college or university in a field other than nursing to apply for its new undergraduate Accelerated Nursing Program, offered through the School of Professional and Graduate Studies. Make yourself more marketable in today's economy by earning a nursing degree in a year and a half at our two convenient locations in Mid-Manhattan or Riverdale.

The Program
The Accelerated Nursing Program is designed and intended for full-time study. The program requires students to dedicate five days per week with as many as 36 hours of weekly class and clinical hours.

Students begin the program in the fall and complete their studies in a year and a half.   

Admission
Admission Prerequisites 
To be considered for the Program, an applicant must have successfully completed the following prerequisites in the last five years, with a grade of B or better. Students can also take these courses at the College of Mount Saint Vincent, prior to beginning the Accelerated Nursing Program.  
  • Organic Chemistry 
  • Anatomy and Physiology I and II
  • Microbiology

In addition to the courses listed above, all applicants are required to have taken or required to complete, if they have not done so already, the following courses:

  • *Documentation of Mastery of English language at the college level; College Writing Course 
  • *Documentation of Mastery of Mathematics at the college level; Statistics or Calculus 
Admission Process
  • Please complete the Application for Admission to the Accelerated Nursing Program found here.
  • 1 letter of Recommendation
  • Essay on the topic of your choice (upload on the on line application)
  • Official College Transcripts in a sealed envelope from each college or university attended
  • Standardized Test Scores are not required for admission into the Accelerated Nursing Program

Applications will not be considered for admission until all required documents have been submitted to the Office of Admission.

Policy for Students Who Speak English As A Second Language:

  • Must complete required interview with Nursing department faculty- completed in person or via Skype
  • Must submit official TOEFL/IELTS scores; 6.5 or above on the IELTS and 80 or above on the TOEFL
Deadlines
Early Action Deadline # 1: April 1, 2015
Students who apply, complete the application process, and have all the required prerequisites completed by April 1, 2014 can receive a decision on their application by April 15, 2014.

Early Action Deadline # 2: June 1, 2015
Students who apply, complete the application process, and have all the required prerequisites completed by June 1, 2014 can receive a decision on their application by June 15, 2014.

Regular Decision Deadline: July 1, 2015

Tuition
The flat tuition of $45,800 plus fees is paid over 4 installments over the course of the program. The 4 equal installments are due in August, January, May and August. Visit Graduate and SPCS Tuition and Fees for more information.
