American Association of University Women Co-Host Ninth Annual "Explore Your Opportunities – The Sky’s the Limit!” Conference at CMSV March 17, 2012
3/6/2012 - Riverdale, NY - The Westchester Branch of American Association of University Women will co-host the ninth annual "Explore Your Opportunities - The Sky's the Limit!" Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Conference for seventh grade girls at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York on Saturday, March 12, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The conference aims to provide young women with opportunities to meet and interact with positive female role models who are active in STEM (science, technology, mathematics and engineering) fields and to foster a greater awareness of career opportunities these fields. Members of AAUW invite girls to choose from 17 different hands-on workshops that cover a variety of STEM topics.  The conference is designed to create positive experiences in STEM through engaging interactive learning.
 
Since its inception, the conference has hosted more than 1,000 seventh grade girls. The ninth annual “Explore Your Opportunities - The Sky's The Limit!” conference is expected to draw roughly 170 young women from New York City and Westchester. During the conference, parents and educators can partake in an entertaining and informative workshop, followed by a town hall discussion about careers in STEM fields and higher education opportunities.

Registration forms can be downloaded at http://www.aauw-eyoconference.org/.  Adults must complete a form if they intend to participate. The cost of the conference is $12.00 per participant, which includes workshops, breakfast and lunch.  Early registration is encouraged, as space is limited.
