Sophomore and commuter student Rema Sayed dreams of becoming a physician. She came to the College of Mount Saint Vincent because of the beautiful campus and small class sizes – and because it’s close to home.
“The Mount has given me the connections I need. My advisor is always there for me, helping me to focus on my goals and realize my dream of becoming a doctor. He lets me know when I need to take my MCATs, and what classes I should take to prepare me for medical school. Whatever I need – he has always been there for me.”
Rema chose the Mount over other area schools because she wanted to live at home, but still attend a great school where academics matter most. “It’s wonderful being close to the city where there are so many resources and internship opportunities available to the students. And I love that all my professors know my name here and I’m not just a number.”
As the layout editor for the school newspaper, the Mount Times, a Peer Mentor for first year students, and a Commuter Assistant representing the entire commuter student body on campus, Rema stays involved in campus life.
“I try to stay on campus as much as possible. Many commuters at other schools go to class and then go home, but this school makes you want to stay around campus.”
When summing up the benefits of attending the Mount, Rema says, “The professors and staff will get you ready for the next step in your life. Anyone can come here with any dream or ambition they have, and this school will help make it happen.”
