Biology Research
The research program in the biology department has a tradition of undergraduate participation and achievement. Hundreds of undergraduates have participated in the research programs, co-authored peer reviewed papers with faculty, earned regional and national recognition, and gone on to postgraduate study.

Research in biology is offered as an elective course and generally enrolls 20 students per semester. Under the direct guidance of a faculty member, students spend 12 hours per week in laboratory research. Students may also work at outside institutions such as the Animal Health Center of the Bronx Zoo, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Students present papers on their work at preprofessional programs—for example, the Eastern Colleges Science Conference and Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, www.tri-beta.org/ as well as at meetings of professional societies.
