CMSV Joins Students, Faculty and Staff from more than 60 New York State Colleges and Universities to Advocate for State Student Aid in Albany
2/7/2011 - Riverdale, N.Y.—On Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, College of Mount Saint Vincent students will join roughly 1,200 high school and college students, faculty and staff from more than 60 college campuses in Albany to share their stories about the value of state student aid programs, including the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), Grad TAP, the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), the Science and Technology Entry programs (STEP/C-STEP), and the Liberty Partnerships Program.

New York Student Aid Alliance Advocacy Day is organized by The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU), which represents the chief executives of New York's 100+ independent (private, not-for-profit) colleges and universities on issues of public policy. Member colleges compose the largest private sector of higher education in the world and confer most of the bachelor's degrees (54%), master's degrees (73%), and doctoral and first-professional degrees (80%) earned in New York State.

CMSV students will participate in a full roster of activities, which includes the following:

9:15 a.m. – Registration, Display Tables and Literature, General Information “Desk” and Displays until 3:30 p.m. (Well Wall)

10:30 a.m. - Advocacy Day Overview (Well)
• Welcome
• Overview of the Executive Budget for SFY 2011-12
• How to Advocate for State Student Aid
• Remarks by Special Guests

11:15 a.m. - Student and Alumni Speak Out

11:30 a.m. - Student/Legislator Meetings
