CMSV Presents Full Roster of Events for Black History Month
2/2/2011 - Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent presents a full roster of events to celebrate Black History Month throughout February. At 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 2010 in Alumnae Pavilion, storyteller April Armstrong recounts the untold stories of the Underground Railroad and leads participants in an interactive activity. The documentary “Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice,” will be screened at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2010 in the Alumnae Pavilion, followed by a discussion led by English professor Tania Friedel. College of Mount Saint Vincent history professor Dr. Daniel Opler will discuss the historical significance of the Harlem Renaissance at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 in the Alumnae Pavilion. Commuters are invited to a special Black History Month Commuter Luncheon from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15 in the Alumnae Pavilion. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss famous African-American leaders during the luncheon. The month-long celebration concludes with a Black History Month Cultural Showcase and Dinner, which features music and a special performance, at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 in Smith Hall.
