After winning the 2009 Skyline Conference Tournament, NYU-POLY was selected as the favorite in the poll and received 100 total points and 10 of the 11 possible first place votes. The Blue Jays finished the 2009 campaign unbeaten against league opponents and made the program’s first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
St. Joseph’s-L.I. was picked second in the poll with a total of 89 points, with Sage tabbed third with 83 tallies and the other first place nod. Mount Saint Mary was picked fourth with 73 points and was followed by Old Westbury with 57 points and the Dolphins with 54.
Rounding out the 11 team league in the poll are Farmingdale State (47), Purchase (43), Bard (29), Maritime (19) and Yeshiva (11).
The Dolphins closed out the 2009 season with a 12-15 overall record and a 4-5 mark within the Skyline Conference. The Mount was the fifth seed in the league tournament a season ago where they were downed by Mount Saint Mary in the quarterfinal round.
Mount Saint Vincent will kick-off the 2010 campaign at Yeshiva on Wednesday night. Following that match the Dolphins will travel to New London, Conn. On September 4 for matches with the United States Coast Guard Academy and USMMA-Kings Point before traveling to NYU-POLY on September 8.
