If enthusiasm, pride, and determination are a yardstick for success as a College Head Coach, second-year Mount Saint Vincent Head Men's Volleyball Coach Tom Callahan is going to bring the Mount back to national prominence in a hurry. Hired in December of 2005 to rebuild a Dolphin program that was ranked among the nation's top-15 only seven months earlier, Callahan has brought an energy level to the Mount that has the Dolphins faithful thinking that the rebuilding project will be a very brief one.

Callahan, who led the Mount to a 7-18 record during the 2006 season, came to Mount Saint Vincent from Salesian High School where he developed a Boy's Volleyball program that was nothing short of a dynasty in the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) in New York City, as during a three-year run as the program's Head Coach, the team won all three CHSAA Championships, and finished two seasons undefeated as well. While at Salesian, Callahan also coached the Bowling team to five consecutive CHSAA Championships, and also served as the Assistant Coach for the Hudson Valley region's Empire State Games Boy's Scholastic Volleyball team.

Callahan also brought to the Mount one year of collegiate experience as he was the Head Coach at Maritime College during the 2005 campaign when the team earned the Conference's Sportsmanship Award.

Callahan is a 1998 graduate of Iona College where earned a B.S. in Biology. He then attended Lehman College, earning an M.S. in Science Education in 2002, and he recently completed an M.S. in Educational Administration from Iona. Callahan is currently a Science Teacher at Dobbs Ferry High School after a long and distinguished teaching teaching career at Salesian, where he earned a Department Commendation for four straight years by achieving a 99% passing rate on New York State Regents exams, and also earning Salesian’s Teacher of the Year honors in 2002 and 2005.

Callahan currently lives in New Rochelle, New York.
