Summary:
The College of Mount Saint Vincent is seeking a recent Masters Degree recipient to fill the position of Assistant Director of Campus Ministry. The successful candidate will be a vibrant, enthusiastic Campus Minister versed in, and comfortable with, current practices and this generation of college students. He or she will be conversant in Church teachings and policies and thoroughly knowledgeable about Church liturgies and services. This is a full time position that frequently requires weekend and evening work or presence on campus.
Salary Range: $40,000-$45,000
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop programs and activities to facilitate faith formation, the development of spirituality, vigorous engagement in the Catholic intellectual tradition, and prayer experiences for the College community with emphasis on engaging students, increasing student participation, and developing student leadership in the process.
• Collaborate with the College Chaplain, students, and as appropriate, other members of the College community (students, other members of Mission and Ministry, Alumnae/I Relations, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, etc.) to plan, organize, promote, and oversee College liturgies and services-- including but not necessarily limited to Sunday Masses, Mass on the Feast of St. Francis, the Mass of the Holy Spirit, Founders Day Mass, Baccalaureate Mass, Reunion Masses, Ash Wednesday services, Christmas observances, Lenten observances, hosting alumni weddings, and various special liturgies, memorial Masses, and prayer services.
• Participate actively in planning and promoting Mission-centered community education and development programs, including orientations for new employees, Betty Bayley Brunch, Founders’ Day, Values Forums, Lenten Lecture, and other co-curricular events on matters of faith, spirituality, service, community life, and social justice, including contemporary issues and even controversies.
• Recruit, train, assign, and supervise volunteer lectors, Eucharistic ministers, servers, sacristans, etc. for College liturgies.
• Serve as liaison with the Sisters of Charity on Chapel use.
• Facilitate, in collaboration with others, the RCIA program.
• Facilitate and participate in the assessment of the College Mission and in the development of initiatives resulting there from.
• Recruit, train, and assist students in performing the responsibility of Sacristan, including coverage during periods when school is not in session.
• Work collaboratively as part of Campus Ministry team to provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance, religious education, and pastoral presence to students in particular; participate in Campus Ministry and related programs; represent the department and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Abilities:
• A relevant Masters Degree (Pastoral Ministry, Theology, Religious Studies, etc.) awarded within the last five years.
• Practicing Catholic in good standing
• Firm grasp of Catholic Liturgies, Sacramental Rites, and Services
• Genuine interest in college students as well as the ability to work well with, and relate to, all age groups
• Flexibility and adaptability
• Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• NYS Drivers License
Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Social Media
Physical Demands: General office work. Ability to navigate a 70 acre hilly campus. Travel with students.
Work Environment: Office. Various campus facilities and events. Off-campus field experiences with students. Chapel.
