James Quiroga comes to Mount Saint Vincent for his first season as Head Men's Soccer Coach. He joins the Dolphins with both college and club coaching experience.
Quiroga began his coaching career at Iona in 2001. He was on the Iona staff through the 2004 season and helped the Gaels into Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament contention each season. His duties in New Rochelle included tactical sessions, fitness and video. Administratively, he was responsible the monitoring of academic records and he also started data bases, calendars and records for the men’s soccer program.
While on the staff at Iona he also recruited prospective student-athletes and prepared soccer lessons for preseason and the non-traditional season.
Quiroga also works for one of the elite club programs in the country in FC Westchester. He has been with the program since 1997. With FC Westchester he is responsible for all soccer lessons and approves all team tournament entries. He also leads the way in all duties in relation to team tactics, fitness and recruitment. James has guided his team to the New York State finals in 2001, 2003, and 2008 and has won the New York State Championship four times: 2004, 2006, 2007, and 2009.
In 2007, he guided his team to the Chelsea’s Disney National Invitational Tournament Championship. In 2004, Quiroga was elected the Super Y National Team Coach for the Region 1 team.
Quiroga graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies and History in December of 2001. He currently resides in New Rochelle, N.Y.
