The College of Mount Saint Vincent will hold Commencement on May 22 for the graduating class of 2010. Rosemary T. Berkery, a graduate of the College, will deliver the Commencement Address. The ceremony will be held on the College campus in front of the Administration building beginning at 10:30 a.m. In addition, the College will confer upon Ms. Berkery an honorary Doctorate of Laws.
Ms. Berkery is an accomplished financial services executive, with over 25 years of experience in the industry and expertise in both general counsel responsibilities and as a business executive. She is currently Vice Chairman of UBS America's Wealth Management business and Chairman of UBS Bank USA. Previously she served as Vice Chair, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc. As Executive Vice President and General Counsel, she served as a trusted counselor to Merrill Lynch’s Board of Directors, Chairman and CEO, Executive Management Team and Merrill’s business groups. In this role, she managed the global legal and compliance departments, comprised of 900+ legal professionals and regulatory compliance officers in 20 countries.
Ms. Berkery is a 1975 Mount Saint Vincent graduate who received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in English. She took the law boards and won a full scholarship to St. John’s University School of Law where she received her JD. During that time, she worked as an editor of the Law Review.
In addition to her success in the financial world, Ms. Berkery also serves on the Board of Trustees for the College of Mount Saint Vincent. She has been previously honored by Fortune Magazine as one of “5 Women to Watch,” by Crain Business Magazine as one of the “Top 100 Professional Women in New York,” by the YMCA as one of its “100 Top Women Achievers,” and has been profiled by the Financial Times in an article captioned “Rosemary Berkery: Wall Street’s Woman of Influence.”
Commencement will take place rain or shine. Seating is open by admission beginning at 9:30 a.m. There will be standing room outside the tent where the ceremony is to take place.
