Hernandez gives Dolphins 1-0 lead on spectacular goal; Mount Saint Vincent now 3-11-1
10/25/2006 - Having gone winless during seven straight games, including a four-game losing streak in which they were outscored a combined 29-1, the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team could easily have given up early on Wednesday when they host Farmingdale State on Senior Day. After all, the Rams entered the day's action one of the hottest teams in the Skyline Conference and are in the hunt for a post-season bid, while the Mount entered the game still search for their groove. 45 minutes into the game, it was clear that Farmingdale was in for one of its toughest tests of the season, and while the Rams ultimately prevailed, 3-1, the Mount Saint Vincent effort proved that the difference between the Dolphins and the rest of the Skyline Conference is not as great as it has seemed during recent games. Lawson makes 13 saves during collegiate debut in goal; Dolphins suffer fourth straight loss despite outstanding first half
10/21/2006 - The bad news was that the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team lost its fourth consecutive game, 6-0 to Old Westbury on Saturday. The good news was that Mount Saint Vincent proved to be resilient once again, playing one their best first halves of the 2006 season, and then getting a stunning performance by an unlikely hero during the final 45 minutes to keep the game respectable. Down to nine players thanks to several injuries during the first half on Saturday, the Dolphins may have lost the game, but their mettle and resolve to continue playing hard despite such adversity could be a sign that the future is very bright for a very young team and their first year Head Coach. Dolphins allow three goals during seven-minute first half span; Raftery: 11 saves
10/18/2006 - Over the years, the Centenary-Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Soccer rivalry has brought with it some of the most exciting games each season in the Skyline Conference. Two years ago, the Mount downed Centenary in double overtime, scoring the game-winner with one second left in the second extra session. As the teams lined up for their final regular season conference game in history as Centenary will depart the Skyline Conference after the 2006 season, hopes were for yet another Dolphin-Cyclone classic. Unfortunately for the Mount, an early Centenary goal and then a three-goal in seven-minute rally late in the first half dashed all hopes for another thriller and for the Dolphins’ first Skyline win of 2006. Centenary cruised to a 5-0 win that put the Cyclones in line for their first ever Skyline Conference playoff bid, and dropped the Mount to 3-9-1 and 0-6 in Conference play. More...

Herrera nets 10th goal of 2006, Cecere makes nine saves to preserve tie during hard-fought game
10/7/2006 - In 2007, Purchase College will join the Skyline Conference with soccer being one of their strongest athletics offerings. In honor of Purchase's entry into the Conference, they may officially have their first arch-rival ... at least in Men's Soccer as Mount Saint Vincent and Purchase proved on Saturday that neither team will give an inch when they face each other on the field. Saturday marked the final time the two teams will meet as non-conference foes, and the result was an outstanding one as the team's played to a 1-1 tie during a game that was as intense as it was entertaining. With the tie, Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-6-1. More...
Fundraiser for Laline’s Angels allows Dolphins to participate in valuable community service event
10/6/2006 - After five hours of play, the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Soccer game came to an end on Sunday, Oct. 1, but there was no winner. In fact there was no score, no statistics, and playing time was not even charted. While the Mount participated in what was manifestly a soccer event, the game was not nearly as important as the cause. “Kicks for Kids” gave the Dolphins a different reason to play on Sunday, and while there was no winner on the field, everybody gained something … particularly the children who benefit from this event. Maritime scores twice during final five minutes to earn Skyline Conference win; Dolphins outshoot Privateers 28-21
10/4/2006 - For the second straight season, Mount Saint Vincent had the game at hand. They out-shot, out-possessed, and outworked Skyline Conference rival Maritime College, and had an overwhelming majority of the scoring chances. It was simply one of the finest efforts by the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Soccer team this season. Unfortunately, for the second straight year, late-game heroics by Maritime were the order of the day as the Privateers scored twice during the final five minutes of play and escaped Mount Saint Vincent with a 2-0 win during a game played at Westchester Community College. With the loss, the Dolphins fall to 3-6 for the 2006 season and are now 0-3 in Skyline Conference play. More...

Hernandez’s late-game heroics, Cecere’s sensational play in goal lead Dolphins to regular season title
9/30/2006 - 168 hours. It’s a relatively brief period of time in sports when compared to the larger context of a season. After all, in sports – any sport – 168 hours are generally but a fraction of the overall effort it takes to get from start to finish, from beginning to end. It’s a week – a few practices, and maybe a couple of games. And when compared to the intense hours of exhaustive effort required from pre-season to post-season, to narrow time down to one week, seven days, or 168 hours is generally an exercise in minutia and over-analysis. Raftery makes six saves; Dolphins to host Webb on Wednesday
9/23/2006 - For the second straight game, the Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Soccer team played a solid game against an energized opponent, and for the second straight game they went toe-to-toe with that opponent. With their second straight loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 1-5. More...

The game was far closer than the score indicated as it was a near statistical draw in every category but the scoreboard. CSI outshot the Mount 26-25 and the time of possession was nearly even, but a run by the visitors during the first 10 minutes made for much of the difference in this game. More...
