College of Mount Saint Vincent Director of Athletics Cathy Ingram has announced the hiring of Daniel Mulholland as the new Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach. Mulholland will take the reigns of the men’s program after serving as Manhattanville’s head coach from 2000-07.
Mulholland brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Mount. From 1965-67 he played varsity lacrosse at SUNY Brockport. Upon graduation he moved into coaching and served as the head junior varsity coach at Yorktown High School from 1970-73.
In 1976, Mulholland took over as the head coach for the Ardsley High School club team, before becoming the head varsity coach at Sleepy Hollow High School from 1977-78. In 1981, Mulholland took the reigns of the Peekskill High School program for two seasons, before coaching at Pace from 1983-99.
Along with his coaching experience, Mulholland has received numerous accolades. In 1982, he was named the Section I, League C “Coach of the Year”. In 1996 he was awarded the Metropolitan NY Lacrosse Referees “Sportsmanship Award”. 1997 brought the first of two Knickerbocker Conference “Coach of the Year” awardS, before being named the Northeast-10 “Coach of the Year” and Division II National “Coach of the Year” in 1999.
In his career, Mulholland has compiled a recorded of 348-245.
A 1968 graduate of SUNY Brockport, Mulholland currently resides in Ardsley, NY with his wife Laney. He currently is a Social Studies teacher and senior class advisor at Ardsley High School. Mulholland has five children; Kelly (37), Sean (32), Brigitte (21), Megan (19), and Shannon (16).
