New Paltz, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Volleyball team dropped its third

straight match on Wednesday night with a 3-0 loss at NECVA Metro rival New Paltz. The Hawks downed the Dolphins by game scores of 24-30, 19-30 and 10-30. Junior outside hitter David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the Dolphins will 11 kills on the night.

 

Guerrero was the only Mount Saint Vincent player in double figures in kills on the night and he also chipped in with a solo block and a pair of digs. Senior Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) finished the night with six winners and also lifted four digs.

 

Junior setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) handed out 24 assists for the Dolphins and also posted a team-high six digs. Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) chipped in with three kills and a team-high three service aces.

 

New Paltz was led on the night by Mike Van Tyne and Jonathan Van Dyke who combined for 23 of the Hawks 42 kills. Van Tyne finished with a match-high 13 kills, while Van Dyke posted 10. Andrew Cassius handed out a match-high 25 assists with Jake Moore recorded a match-high four aces.

 

The Hawks finished the night with 42 kills to 26 for the Mount and hit an impressive .397 as a unit. Van Dyke led all players with an .833 hitting percentage. New Paltz also posted 7.0 total team blocks to 5.0 for the Dolphins. Kevin Stoss and Hockenjos each posted five total blocks in the contest.

 

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 14-15 overall on the season and to 4-4 in NECVA Metro action. The Dolphins will close out the regular season on Friday when they travel to Vassar. The contest with the Brewers is set for 7:00 p.m.
