In the opener against Milwaukee School of Engineering Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with nine kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Guerrero chipped in with seven winners for the Mount and also led the team with five defensive digs. Junior setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) handed out 19 assists for the Mount.
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit .153 as a team and posted six total team blocks. The Dolphins did not record a service ace in the match and finished up with 14 defensive digs.
In the second match of the day, Guerrero finished with 21 kills and a .216 hitting percentage against the Lasers. He rounded out a double-double effort with 12 digs in the contest and also picked up a service aces and a block assist.
Hockenjos joined Guerrero in double-figures in the kills category against Lasell with 13 and led the way with three of the Dolphins’ six service aces. Hockenjos also totaled four total blocks for the Mount.
Sophomores Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) combined for 13 kills, with Bacchi totaling seven to go along with seven digs and three total blocks. Krauszer added a team-high 14 digs to his six kills and assisted on two blocks. Quinn finished up with 38 assists and five digs.
For the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit an even .200 and totaled 49 kills. The Dolphins also finished with six aces, 50 digs and 7.5 total team blocks.
The two losses drop Mount Saint Vincent to 13-9 overall on the season. The Dolphins will close out play at the Invitational on Sunday when they take on the host MIT at 10:30 a.m. and Emmanuel at 3:00 p.m.
