Gerald Davis returns to the College of Mount Saint Vincent in 2009-10 for his second season as the head coach of the Women’s Basketball program. In his first campaign with the Dolphins he guided the Mount to a 16-12 overall record and its second straight appearance in the ECAC Division III Metro Tournament.
Davis took over at the Mount after serving as an assistant coach for C.W. Post women’s program from 2005-07. While with the Pioneers, his main responsibilities included recruiting, scouting, conditioning and perimeter coaching. His primary recruiting areas were New York and New Jersey.
“It is my good fortune that Mr. Macias has hired me to pilot the women’s basketball team here at Mount Saint Vincent. The foundation has been laid and it is my desire to continue its path in excellence,” stated Davis upon accepting the position.
Prior to his time with C.W. Post, Davis served as the Head Women’s Basketball at the City College of New York from 2003-05. While with the Beavers, Davis oversaw the day-to-day running of an NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball program. Some of his responsibilities included recruiting, scouting and conditioning. He also oversaw practice and game day preparation at CCNY. Off the floor, Davis served as a mentor to his student-athletes.
His head coaching position at CCNY was his second stint at the New York City campus. Davis also served as an assistant from 1999-2000. From there he moved on to take an assistant position at Kingsborough Community College and was there from 2000-01.
A New York City native, Davis played his high school basketball at Erasmus High School, before moving on to play at Hunter College.
Davis currently resides in Freeport, NY.
