Blue Knights Too Much For Mount Saint Vincent
Dolphins convert just 11 field goals on the night

(Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) led the team with 15 points on the night.

 

The Blue Knights jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first 4:13 of the half, before a Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) three point play sliced the deficit in half with 13:29 left in the frame.

 

After Mount Saint Mary ran off the next four points, Brady drilled a triple to pull the Mount to within 10-6 with 12:10 to play. A Jen Mocanu (Middletown, N.J.) three pointer two minutes later would be the last field goal the Dolphins would convert in the half.

 

In the period the Dolphins went just 3-for-22 from the floor and just 2-for-8 from behind the arc. The Dolphins did convert 7-for-8 from the free-throw line in the first half with Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, N.Y.), Brady and Andree DeLeon (Flushing, N.Y.) each knocking down both of their attempts. Brady led the team in scoring with five points in the opening twenty minutes.

 

Jess Tice posted a double-double in the first half with 11 points and 12 rebounds as the Blue Knights shot just under 42-percent from the floor in the half. Shannon Sangster chipped in with 10 points.

 

After Mount Saint Mary stretched its lead to double-figures with 8:33 left in the first half the Dolphins would not be able to get any closer then eight points the remainder of the night and trailed 34-15 at the break.

 

The Blue Knights would hold a lead as large as 24 points twice late in the game, but the Mount closed the contest on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to the final 17 points. The Dolphins would outscore Mount Saint Mary in the second stanza 25-23 with Brady posting 10 points in the period.

 

Mount Saint Vincent finished the contest just 11-for-44 from the floor and just 3-for-15 from behind the arc. The 11 field goals are the fewest the Dolphins have made in a game since January 21, 2006 against Mount Saint Mary.

 

Brady led the way for the Mount with 15 points after going 5-for-14 from the floor overall and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Percodani chipped in with nine points and Mocanu totaled eight for the Mount.

 

Tice finished the contest with 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Blue Knights, including eight of the team’s 22 offensive boards. Sangster totaled 12 points and eight boards for Mount Saint Mary.

 

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 10-7 overall on the season and to 7-4 in league play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they host undefeated Farmingdale St. The game will be played at the College of New Rochelle and will tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
