The Week Ahead: The Dolphins open the second half of the season with three Skyline Conference contests this week. The Mount will host Sage on Tuesday and NYU-POLY on Saturday with a trip in between to Patchogue, N.Y. to tussle with St. Joseph’s on Thursday night.
Scouting Sage: The Gators will come to Riverdale sporting a 4-5 overall record in nine games and an even 2-2 mark against league opponents. Sage opened league play with two straight wins, but has fallen to Farmingdale St. and Mount Saint Mary over its past two contests. The Gators have two players averaging in double-figures this season with Jessica Byerwalters and Kara Hackett leading the way with 14.8 and 10.7 points per game. Kelsey Frament is the Gators’ top rebounder, pulling down just under nine boards a night.
Scouting St. Joseph’s-L.I. - The Eagles enter the week at .500 with a 5-5 mark overall and a 2-2 record in Skyline Conference play. Trish McMahon is St. Joseph’s leading scorer at 16.4 points per game and just recently became the program’s all-time leading scorer with her 1,059th career tally. Kristen Macukas leads the team on the glass with 10.3 per night and also chips in 7.9 points per game.
Scouting NYU-POLY:0NYU-POLY enters the upcoming week having played just six games and stands at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Skyline action. The Fighting Blue Jays opened the season with three straight wins, but have since dropped three in a row, including a heartbreaking 54-52 decision at St. Joseph’s-L.I. Saturday’s contest with the Dolphins will be the fifth of six straight games NYU-POLY will play on the road.
The Dolphins are coming off a convincing 89-57 win over Curry College in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on December 20 and stand at 5-4 overall on the season and 2-1 in Skyline Conference action.
