Clifton Park, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent freshman Shaquille Cunningham (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named the Skyline Conference Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week it was announced on Monday afternoon. Cunningham averaged over 10 points a game last week and hit the game winning shot in Mount Saint Vincent’s 64-63 win at New York University on Saturday afternoon.

In three games last week Cunningham averaged 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals for the Dolphins who went 2-1. He set a new career scoring high in each of the three games, including a 15 point performance in which he hit the game winning basket with five seconds left at NYU to give the Mount a one point victory. He also scored in double-figures at Mount Saint Mary with 10 points.

At NYU Cunningham went 6-14 from the floor and handed out a career best five assists. For the week he shot 42.9-percent from the field and 33.3-percent from three point range. He also totaled nine assists and four steals over the three game stretch. 

The win at NYU on Saturday pushed Mount Saint Vincent to 3-1 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back on the floor Monday night at the Sharp Center when they host the College of Staten Island. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
