Women’s Swimming Downed At Hunter
Soccoa takes first in 100-yard breaststroke

Mount Saint Vincent was downed at Hunter on Friday.
New York, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Swimming team was downed at Hunter College of Friday night by a score of 57-34. Sophomore Meaghan Soccoa (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up the lone individual first place finish for the Mount in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Soccoa and Mary Eileen Kiernan (Rockaway Point, N.Y.) finished first and second in the event with Soccoa finishing the race in a time of 1:55.11. Kiernan finished right behind in a time of 1:33.30.

The Dolphins only other first place finish at the meet was in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Michelle Cabahug (Queens Village, N.Y.), Jeanette Marrocco (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Catie Dillman (Harrison, N.Y.) and Amanda Costa (River Edge, N.J.) completed the event in a time of 2:08.15.

Other strong swims on the evening were turned in by Costa who placed second in the 50-yard freestyle, Danielle Murphy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who finished second in the 200-yard individual medley and Carissa O’Leary (Brookfield, Conn.) who took the second position in the 500-yard freestyle.

The loss is Mount Saint Vincent’s third straight and drops it to 2-4 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in the pool again this coming weekend at the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
