Women’s Swimming Falls In Skyline Opener At Purchase
Costa takes second in 50, 500 freestyle

The Dolphins stand at 2-2 overall heading into their meet at Kings Point.
Purchase, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Swimming team was defeated on Saturday afternoon in its Skyline Conference opener at Purchase by a score of 118-67. The Dolphins captured four individual second place finishes on the day with Amanda Costa (River Edge, N.J.) taking second in the 50 and 500-yard freestyle.

Costa continued her strong early season performance by posting a time of 30.07 seconds in the 50 freestyle. She followed that up with another second place finish in the 500-yard free to pace the Dolphins.

Other strong swims on Saturday were turned in by Angelica Iribarne (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.), Danielle Murphy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Michelle Cabahug (Queens Village, N.Y.). Iribarne finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:10.45, while Cabahug and Murphy finished second and third respectively in the 100-yard backstroke.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent back to .500 on the season at 2-2 overall and moves it  to 0-1 against Skyline opponents. The Mount will be back in the pool again on November 20 when it travels to Kings Point for a date with the Merchant Marine Academy.
