11/10/2009 - Heather Gostomski ’09, has been awarded the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award for 2009. The award is a collaborative effort between institutions of higher learning and the newspaper to honor academic excellence as well as business leadership.  Colleges and universities nominate students who they believe will be worthy recipients.

While a student at Mount Saint Vincent, Heather interned at BNP Paribas and JP Morgan Investment Bank. She majored in Business and was President of the Business Club. “There have been several students who have won from the Mount,” said Teresita Ramirez, Chair of the Business Department and Associate Professor.  “We don’t nominate students each year, just when we have someone worthy.  For Heather, it was unanimous among the faculty.”

Heather accepted a position with JP Morgan Investment Bank in Prime Brokerage after her May 2009 graduation. She also completed JP Morgan’s Prime Brokerage Training Program. 

The Educational Service Bureau of Dow Jones developed the Student Achievement Award in 1948.  Winners are awarded a paperweight, have their name printed in the Wall Street Journal and receive a free one year subscription to the paper.
