Charlton wins HVMAC individual championship; Murphy voted HVMAC Coach of the Year
11/10/2006 - A year ago, it would have been hard to fathom the amount of hardware the Mount Saint Vincent Men's and Women's Cross Country teams captured at Friday's Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. After all, it was only a year ago that Mount Saint Vincent hosted the event despite not having a team. However, when the race began on Friday the fact that the Dolphins were a de facto first year program did not matter. Nor did it matter that almost every Mount Saint Vincent competitor were still neophytes to the sport. What matter was that the Mount had a tremendous group of athletes, and on Friday they ran tremendously. Both teams earned runner-up honors and several Mount Saint Vincent competitors walked away with awards as well. More...
Senior earns All-Conference honors and will compete for ECAC Championship next weekend
10/29/2006 - Throw every cliche in the book at Head Coach Michael Murphy and the Mount Saint Vincent Men's and Women's Cross Country teams, and none of them will do justice to their accomplishments this weekend, and in the bigger picture this season. A year ago, Mount Saint Vincent didn't race in Cross Country. And even with a team this season, the combined Cross Country experience among the two teams barely measured up to the seasoned competition they faced every time they took to a course. In other words, just having a team was victory enough for Murphy and company, but somebody forgot to tell them that ... particularly on Sunday. At the Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships, Mount Saint Vincent not only impressed their competition, they left them gasping in awe. More...

Mount Saint Vincent earned 80 total points, finishing 13 points behind Suffolk Community College, 21 points behind Purchase College, and 48 points behind winner St. Joseph's (LI). Perhaps the most encouraging sign of the day was that the Dolphins finished a commanding 74 points ahead of 2005 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Champion, St. Joseph's (LI) only one week before the 2006 Conference Championships.
