Coming Up This Week: The Dolphins have a light week coming up, playing just one non-conference match. The Mount will host Medgar Evers from the CUNYAC on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
A Look Back At Last Week: Mount Saint Vincent went 2-1 last week over three matches, picking up two improtant Skyline Conference wins on Saturday at Farmingdale St. After being swept on the road at CCNY, the Dolphins picked up four set wins over both Farmingdale St. and Bard to climb over .500 in league play for the first time this season. Against the host Rams, the Mount had 11 players record at least one kill, with Jessica Williams leading the way with nine. Against Bard senior Lisa O’Shea led the offensive attack with 11 winners, while classmate Bridget Leonard matched her career-high by handing out 32 assists.
Scout Department: Medgar Evers: Medgar Evers will come to Riverdale on Wednesday with an overall record of 3-13 and a CUNYAC mark of 2-5. Most recently the Cougars were swpet in a conference tri-match by both Hunter and Lehman on Monday afternoon.
Heading into the tri-match on Monday, Medgar Evers was led by Charita Henry who has finished off 106 kills thus far in 2009. Cristal Molina leads the team in digs with 168 and Lennise Noralez has compiled 28 service aces to lead the squad. Yvanna Jack paces the Cougars with 36 total blocks and Natina Smith has handed out a team-high 68 assists.
Career Bests: Of Mount Saint Vincent’s 11 returning players from a season ago, eight have already set or matched career-highs in at least one category. The most recent Dolphins to match a career milestone was Bridget Leonard who handed out 32 assists against Bard on October 10.
Skyline Honors: After being named to the Grinnell Invitational All-Tournament team sophomore Renee Reynes wasnamed to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll on September 14 and 28. Jessica Williams earned Honor Roll recognition on September 21 and Bridget Leonard was recognized on October 5 and 12.
