In just its fourth year as a varsity sport, Macias’ squad posted a 23-17 record, advanced to the Championship Round of the Skyline Conference Tournament and earned the program’s first ever ECAC Tournament berth. The team set program records in wins (23), batting average (.305), hits (415), runs (311), RBI (261), on-base percentage (.401), slugging percentage (.400), shutouts (4), innings pitched (319.0), strikeouts (233) and saves (6).
Before arriving in Riverdale, Macias served as the Athletic Director in the Haldane Central School District in Cold Spring, NY for two years. While there, he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the athletic programs, including budgetary development and maintenance, academic support, district and school compliance and his role as a Physical Education Teacher.
Prior to his position at Haldane, Macias served as Athletic Director, Physical Education Teacher and Head Baseball Coach at Salesian High School from 1996-2004. While on the New Rochelle campus, Macias built a baseball powerhouse and saw his squad win the CHSAA Division B Championship from 1997-2004. His teams also advanced to the CHSAA Division B Archdiocesan Championship five times and to the CHSAA Intersectional Championship in 1998, 1999 and 2004. While at Salesian, Macias mentored former Dolphins Vinny Prestopino ’08 and Jason Salute ’08. Salute will join the Mount Saint Vincent coaching staff for the 2009 season.
Macias’ gained his first college experience from 1995-96 when he guided the Lehman College Baseball program for two seasons. In his first season as head coach in 1995, Macias was named the CUNYAC Coach of the year after guiding Lehman to the Conference Title and then led the squad to the 1996 ECAC New York/New Jersey Championship.
Off the field, Macias served as an Assistant Director of Athletics at Mount Saint Vincent for two years. In that capacity he was responsible for NCAA compliance and the operation of the Mount’s Intramural Program.
In March of 2008, Macias was named Acting Director of Athletics at the Mount, before being promoted to Director of Athletics in August of 2008.
A 1990 graduate of Cortland State with a degree in Physical Education, Macias holds a Master’s of Science in Physical Education from Lehman (’96) and a Master’s of Science in School Administration from Bank Street College (’07).
Macias resides in Yonkers with his wife the former Patty Wilkins, a 1989 graduate of Mount Saint Vincent and their two children Conor and Vincent.
