Widmer continued her strong 2009 campaign on Sunday, finishing 14th out of 103 competitors in a time of 29:40 on the 6,000 meter course. She was followed by Mary Eileen Kiernan (Rockaway Point, N.Y.) in 32nd place in a time of 31:37 and Meghan Bradley (Washingtonville, N.Y.) in the 51st position in a time of 33:39. Ana Garcia (Kingwood, N.J.) and Janine Boccafola (Wading River, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring team for the Dolphins, placing 56th and 65th respectively. The Mount finished 10th overall out of 15 scoring teams with 209 points.
Purushotham rounded out a busy weekend with a 31st place finish on Sunday in a time of 32:49. He also was the Mount’s top runner on Saturday at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational as the men’s squad ran on back-to-back days. Mahabir Samuel (Bronx, N.Y.) was Mount Saint Vincent’s second finisher on Sunday crossing the line in 41st place in a time of 33:51. Andrew Giordano (Staten Island, N.Y.) came home in 48th place overall with a time of 34:40 on the 8,000 meter course. Michael Coverdale (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Sebastian Osnard (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) completed the men’s team on Sunday in 91st and 121st place. The men placed 11th out of 15 scoring teams with 275 points.
The Dolphins will look to build on Sunday’s success when they compete in the Hunter Invitational on Sunday, October 18.
