Men’s Cross Country Places 12th At Mount Saint Mary Invitational
Dolphins place 12th of 19 teams, finish with 319 points

Navin Purusotham has led the Dolphins in each race of 2009.
Newburgh, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men’s Cross Country team had a strong run on Saturday afternoon at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational held at Chadwick Lake Park. The Dolphins placed 12th out of 19 scoring teams at the event and totaled 319 points. Sophomore Navin Purushotham (Orange, Conn.) led the Mount Saint Vincent contingent with a 58th place overall finish out of 149 finishers.

Purushotham has been the Dolphins top finisher in each of the team’s first three races in 2009. On Saturday he crossed the finish line in 58th place overall, finishing the 8,000 meter course in a time of 33:41.12. Purushotham was followed by Andrew Giordano (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Mahabir Samuel (Bronx, N.Y.), with Giordano posting his top team finish of the season in 64th place in a time of 34:17.96. Samuel continued his solid season with a 70th place overall finish in a time of 34:55.17.in

Rounding out the scoring five for Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday were Steven Oliver (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in 94th place with a time of 37:20.97 and Michael Coverdale (Yonkers, N.Y.) in 105th place crossing the line in 38:03.95. Mount Saint Vincent’s sixth finisher of the afternoon was Sebastian Osnard (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) who placed 136th.

The Dolphins will look to continue their solid 2009 season on Sunday at the Staten Island Invitational.
