Women’s Volleyball Opens Skyline Conference Schedule Tuesday Night
Dolphins tussle with three league opponents this week

The Mount opens Skyline play on Tuesday at Hayes Gymnasium.
Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Volleyball team will play four matches this week, including three against Skyline Conference opponents. The Mount will open league play when it hosts Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday night and then will take on Old Westbury and St. Joseph’s-L.I. on Saturday in Patchogue, N.Y. The Dolphins will also host non-league rival St. Elizabeth on Thursday night.

Coming Up This Week: Mount Saint Vincent will be in action four times this week, with three of those matches being Skyline Conference contests. The Dolphins will host Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday, Saint Elizabeth Thursday and then travel to Patchogue, N.Y. for matches at St. Joseph’s-L.I. and against Old Westbury.

Scout Department: Mount Saint Mary: Mount Saint Mary will enter Tuesday’s match at Hayes Gymnasium with a 5-7 overall record. The Blue Knights are led by Courtney Kenney who has 90 kills, 11 service aces and 99 digs. Teresa Sorrentino has finished off 86 winners, lifted 118 digs and leads the team with 19 service aces. Katie Toole leads the team with 280 assists and Heather Schaeffer leads the way with 197 defensive digs. 

Scout Department: St. Elizabeth: St. Elizabeth will open the week at USMMA-Kings Point on Tuesday before traveling to Riverdale on 9/24. Thursday’s match will mark the fifth road match in a strecth on nine straight for the Eagles.

Scout Department: St. Joseph’s-L.I.: The Golden Eagles will open the week with a 6-6 overall record. St. Joseph’s will travel to York (N.Y.) on Thursday before hosting Mount Saint Mary and the Dolphins on Saturday. Marwa Elembaby leads the offensive attack with 87 kills, while Shannon Dempsey paces the defense with 178 digs. Meghan Caiazzo and Natalie Czelowalnik share the setting setting duties, handing out 137 and 121.

Scout Department: Old Westbury.: The Panthers will enter the week at 4-9 overall heading into their Skyline opener with NYU-POLY on Tuesday night. Old Westbury is led by Ashley Greene’s 116 kills. Kristina Giordano has handed out a team-high 279 assists, while Tinamarie French has lifted 104 digs.

Home Court Advantage: Heading into the 2009 Skyline Conference opener with Mount Saint Mary on September 22, Mount Saint Vincent has not dropped a match at home and has only fallen in one set over those four matches. The Dolphins stand at 4-0.

Seeing Double: Bridget Leonard has posted a double-double for the Dolphins in each of the last two matches. On Thursday against Lehman she finished with 29 assists and 15 digs and on Saturday at USMMA-Kings Point she posted 15 assists and 11 digs.

Career Bests: Of Mount Saint Vincent’s 11 returning players from a season ago, five have already set or matched career-highs in at least one category. The most recent Dolphin to match or break her career-best is Lisa O’Shea. She set a new career mark with 13 kills against Lehman and posted a new best in assists with four helpers at USMMA-Kings Point.

Skyline Honors: After being named to the Grinnell Invitational All-Tournament team sophomore Renee Reynes wasnamed to the Skyline Conference Honor Roll on September 14.

First Time - Twice: The Dolphins’ match on September 17 against Lehman marked the first time this season that a player has recorded double figures in kills in a match. It happened twice against the Lightning with Lisa O’Shea posting 13 kills to lead the team and Jessica Williams posting 11 in the winning effort.

TGI Tuesday: Heading into the match with Mount Saint Mary on September 22 the Mount is a perfect 3-0 on Tuesday evenings. The Dolphins have downed Yeshiva, York (N.Y.) and the College of New Rochelle in those matches.
