Mount Saint Vincent finished the night with 32 kills against the Cardinals with eight players recording at least a pair of winners. Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, N.Y.), Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) led the charge for the Mount with five kills each. Leonard also finished with a match-high 16 assists for the Dolphins.
For the second straight match the Dolphins had a strong night serving the ball. On Tuesday the Dolphins finished with 18 service aces, giving them 42 over the first six sets of the season. Six players recorded at least two aces in the win as Leonard and Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) posted four apiece.
Overall in the match Mount Saint Vincent hit .198 to just .083 for York. The Cardinals did lift 30 digs to 27 for the Dolphins, with Garcia leading the way for the Mount with her eight digs. York also held the edge in total blocks 2-1.
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 2-0 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action for four matches this weekend as part of the Grinnell College Invitational in Grinnell, Iowa. The Dolphins will take on William Penn University and host Grinnell on Friday night.
