The Dolphins finished the contest with two more service aces then they did kills on Tuesday. Seven players recorded at least a pair of aces in the match, with Esmeralda Morales (Bronx, N.Y.), Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Maureen Metzner (Mineola, N.Y.) each posting three. Leonard also finished with four digs and a team-high 11 aces in the contest.
Mead had a solid all around match for the Mount, as she led the way with her seven kills and also posted three defensive digs and a pair of aces. Freshman Erin MacBride (Merrick, N.Y.) tied for the team-high with four digs and also chipped in with a kill and a pair of assists.
Overall for the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit .057 converting 22 kills in 70 total attacks. Yeshiva held the edge in digs on Tuesday 27-26 and the Dolphins finished with two total team blocks to one for the Maccabees.
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent’s overall record to 1-0 on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Tuesday, September 8 when they host York (N.Y.). The non-league match is set for 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
